Joyce Geneva Forrester

Joyce Geneva Forrester, 93, passed away on March 7, 2026, at Autumn Lake in Crofton, Maryland.

Born on June 30, 1932, in Emory, Virginia, to William and Myrtle Glass, Joyce grew up in Meadowview, where she met her husband, Charles H. Forrester. She followed him during his years of Army service, living across the United States as well as in Germany and Panama. In 1969, the family settled in Crownsville, Maryland, where Joyce raised their four children.

She worked at Fairfield Nursing Home until her retirement, after which she continued cleaning houses and quietly helping friends and family for as long as she was able. Joyce loved to entertain in her modest home, always ensuring guests enjoyed a hot meal and felt welcome. A woman of deep faith, she found joy in the outdoors and in gardening. Even in her later years at Autumn Lake, she formed many friendships and took pleasure in looking after others.

She was predeceased by her daughters Susan Shorter and Brenda Gross. Joyce is survived by her daughter Geneva Phillips and her husband Joe, her son Charles Forrester and his wife Debbie, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for the love, kindness, and warm memories she leaves behind.
