Mrs. Joyce Annette Tomberlin Hefner, 79, died Saturday, March 7, 2026 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Chester ARP Church with Rev. Clint Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, also Thursday at the church.Mrs. Hefner was born January 3, 1947, in Chester, SC and was the daughter of the late John D. Tomberlin and Bertha Wilson Tomberlin. She attended the schools of Chester County and was retired from Phillips Industries and later worked with the Budd Group at Chester Career Center, she was a member of Chester ARP Church and was earlier a member of First Baptist Church Blackstock where she taught Sunday School.She survived by her son Wayne McGarity (Beth) of Blackstock, SC; six grandchildren, Angel Lewis (Jeffery), Jessica Blackwell, Trey (Griffin) McGarity, Steven McGarity (Destiny), Andrew McGarity, and Eli McGarity; one great-grandson, Billy Alvin Lewis and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Steve McGarity Sr. and her second husband Jack D. Hefner, her daughter Betty Annette Blackwell, her son, Steve McGarity, Jr and great-grandson, Wilson David Paul Lewis.
