Joyce Annette Tomberlin Hefner

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Annette Tomberlin Hefner (Chester, South Carolina), who passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John D. Tomberlin and Bertha Wilson Tomberlin; her former husband Steve McGarity Sr.; her husband Jack D. Hefner; her children, Betty Annette Blackwell and Steve McGarity, Jr.; and her great grandchild Wilson David Paul Lewis.

She is survived by: her son Wayne McGarity (Beth) of Blackstock, SC; her grandchildren, Angel Lewis (Jeffery), Jessica Blackwell, Trey McGarity (Griffin), Steven McGarity (Destiny), Andrew McGarity and Eli McGarity; and her great grandchild Billy Alvin Lewis. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Chester Arp Church (109 Wylie St, Chester, SC 29706). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at the Chester Memorial Gardens (945 West End Rd, Chester, SC 29706).
