Joyce Ann Belville

Joyce Ann Belville

December 8, 1953 March 12, 2026

Chickasha, OK

Joyce Belville, born December 8, 1953, in Mount Ayr, Iowa, to Harold Tom Golliday and Esther Golliday, passed away on March 12, 2026, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, at the age of 72.

She grew up in Mount Ayr, where she attended school and participated in Rainbow, band, and cheer. A 1972 graduate of Mount Ayr High School, Joyce worked as a lifeguard at the local pool, swept hair at the beauty shop, and served food at the Dari Sweet, Dog and Suds. In 1973 she married Hal Butler and moved with him to Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The couple lived in Seoul, South Korea, where their daughter Andrea was born in 1977, then returned to Fort Sill, where Angie arrived in 1982. Stationed in Germany from 1984 to 1986, they traveled throughout Europe, creating lasting memories in the Black Forest, Paris, London, Spain, and the Netherlands.

After Hal’s death in 1992, Joyce married Otha Ray Belville in 1993. Together they blended their families—Joyce’s two daughters and Ray’s two sons—and continued to live in Lawton, cherishing their children’s activities and time spent at the lake, the wildlife refuge, and with friends and family. In 2007 they moved to Chickasha. Joyce retired from civil service in 2009 after many years with the Legal Assistance Office and as Chief of the Income Tax Assistance Center at Fort Sill, where she took great pride in helping soldiers and mentoring those who worked for her. She then ran a successful home-based tax business built on the trust and affection of her clients. An active member of Epworth United Methodist Church, she volunteered with Something Worthwhile, the soup kitchen, Meals on Wheels, and as a community mediator. She also found joy in cake baking, winning numerous blue ribbons at county and state fairs for her original recipes.

Above all, Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She attended every basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball game, cheered at track meets, cheer events, and swim meets, and filled weekends with snow cone stands, feeding ducks at Shannon Springs Park, slip-and-slide play, and baking cakes with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Otha Ray Belville of Chickasha; daughters Andrea Terrell and husband Josh of Norman, and Angie Strawderman and husband David of Slaughterville; stepsons Jesse and Ray Belville; grandchildren Halley, Hayden, Emma, Greyson, Rayden, and Skye; sister Glenda Gross of Lawton; brother Kirk Golliday and wife Denise of Mount Ayr, Iowa; and other dear nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Her greatest love was her family, and the kindness, faith, and joy she shared will remain a bright and enduring light in their lives.
