Josie Ann Spaulding, age 84, of Lebanon, passed away on March 12, 2026 at her residence. Born on April 5, 1941 in Lebanon, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ohrious and Helen Porter. A lifelong and faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Josie was known for her kind heart, warm smile, and the genuine joy she brought to everyone around her.
She cherished her family above all else, especially her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world. In her free time she enjoyed playing bingo and cards, trying her luck with lottery tickets, and baking. Her delicious cakes and baked goods were well known throughout the community, and she lovingly prepared many wedding and birthday cakes for friends, family, and neighbors. Her sweet personality, generosity, and bright smile touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered with deep affection.
Josie was preceded in death by her husband, William “Candy” Spaulding; two children, John Washington and Thelma Washington; her parents; three sisters, Beatrice Washington, Susan Yocum, and Margaret Spalding; and four brothers, Adrian Porter, J.L. Porter, Neal Porter, and Frank Porter.
She is survived by her two daughters, Shawna Spaulding and Shauntel Spaulding; her sister, Nannie McKay; two special grandsons, Nathan Washington and Jason Washington; special friends Tony Furmon and Mary Jean Smith; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
