Joshua Lee Smith, 42, of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on March 11, 2026, in St. Joseph. Born on October 5, 1983, in St. Joseph, he was the son of Christine (McBrayer) and Dennis Smith. Josh attended Benton High School and married Martina Richardson on December 29, 2005. He worked at Triumph Foods in St. Joseph before relocating to Iowa, where he was employed at Sabre Industries as a Maintenance Supervisor.
Josh found joy in listening to music, attending concerts, cooking out, and watching Raiders football. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially in his roles as a father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son, Carter Paul Smith; paternal grandparents Ronald Smith, Betty and Gordon Wilson; maternal grandfathers Robert McBrayer and Carrol Howard; and step-father Larry Paul Haarlammert.
He is survived by his wife, Martina Smith of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; daughter Julie (Skylar) Smith-Robison of St. Joseph; step-children Kaylynn Cranmer of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Paxton and Ryker McClellan of Sergeant Bluff; granddaughter Addalyn Robison; father Dennis (Barb) Smith of St. Joseph; mother Christine McBrayer (Tom Goodlett) of Haysville, Kansas; sister Shauna Smith of St. Joseph; brother Stephen (Cheyenne) Haarlammert of St. Joseph; sister Melissa Carstensen; paternal grandmother Betty Smith of St. Joseph; maternal grandmother Helen Howard of St. Joseph; sister-in-law Carrie Heckman of St. Joseph; longtime best friend Brandon Ebling; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
