Joshua Jinks

January 22, 1978 March 12, 2026

Portageville, MO

Joshua Paul Jinks was born on January 22, 1978, in West Memphis, Arkansas, to Cynthia June Jinks and Charlie Edward Jinks. A devoted father, brother, and son, he lived first and foremost as a child of God. He was reunited in Heaven with his late son and daughter, and is survived by his wife of 27 years, Aimee, their son Clayton, and daughter Julie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his aunt Helen Clayton.

Josh graduated as valedictorian from Delta C-7 in Deering, Missouri. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in history from Liberty University and completed the police academy through Southeast Missouri State University in 2000. He served with the Caruthersville Police Department and as chief of police in Lilbourn, Missouri. Helping others brought him some of his greatest joy.

He married Aimee Lucinda Johnson on August 2, 1998, in Braggadocio, Missouri. The couple met at church camp in 1995 and centered their life together on faith and family. Josh took immense pride in his children and loved them deeply. He is also survived by his aunt Patricia Clayton, his sister Amanda Jinks Ellison, his mother- and father-in-law Rev. Jimmy and Cindee Johnson, siblings-in-law Jacob (Shelly) and Zac Johnson, and his beloved niece and nephews McKenzie and Nick McCall, Jordan and Chance Boone, and Luke Johnson. His great-nephew Reid Wayne McCall, who affectionately called him Grunk, held a special place in his heart.

Josh cherished gun collecting, sports (especially the Cardinals), John Wayne, and all things related to history. He delighted in aggravating those he loved, making people laugh, and sharing random facts as a gifted storyteller. His favorite quote, “Life is hard, it’s harder if you’re stupid,” reflected his wry sense of humor and enduring spirit.
