May 2, 1981— March 15, 2026
Cass City, MI
Joshua C. Sorenson, 44, of Cass City, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 15, 2026. He was born on May 2, 1981, in Cass City to Craig and Carolyn (Smith) Sorenson.
Josh attended Owen-Gage schools and graduated from Cass City High School with the class of 2000. He also studied at the Tuscola Technology Center, where he excelled in automotive technology and competed at state and national levels, earning first place in the state and second place nationally in Motorsport mechanics.
Early in life he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and followed in believer’s baptism. He attended Calvary Chapel in Vassar, and more recently First Baptist Church in Cass City and Celebrate Recovery in Caro. One of his favorite hymns was “I’d Rather Have Jesus,” and his family finds comfort knowing he is safe in the arms of Jesus. He found strength in his faith, loved the old hymns, and enjoyed watching faith-based documentaries filmed on location in the Holy Lands, often saying he wished he had discovered them earlier in life.
Josh was known for his natural problem-solving abilities, his mechanical talent, and his deep love of motorcycles, tractors, and old cars. He could often be found fixing and tinkering, or pulling over simply to admire tractors at local retailers. He possessed a unique sense of humor and a distinct laugh that could fill a room and bring joy to everyone around him. Above all, Josh loved his daughters, Morgan and Lilly, who meant the world to him. He also cared deeply for his nieces and nephews and cherished every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his parents, Craig and Carolyn Sorenson of Cass City; his daughters, Morgan and Lilly; his brothers, Jared (Kassy) Sorenson of Cass City and their children Isaac, Ian, Owen, Ander, and Lydia; Justin (Lynzie) Sorenson of Vassar and their children Henley, Ashton, Marlie, Addie, and Alister; and his sister, Caitlin (Ryan) Grimshaw of Clarkston and their children Soren, Lennon, Emmy, Ivy, and Sylvie. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard (Mary) Smith and Harold (Lillian) Sorenson.
Josh will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His life reminds us that every person is more than their struggles, and he will be remembered for his laughter, his love for his family, and the memories he leaves behind.
