Josephine McKean

Josephine McKean, known to all as Jo, passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on September 24, 1958, in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she later made her home in Panama City, Florida. With her signature concert tees, Doc Martens, and unwavering love for Ozzy Osbourne and Led Zeppelin, Jo lived life as a proud metal head who embraced her individuality with strength and authenticity.

A longtime classroom assistant, Jo had a natural gift for teaching and formed deep bonds with her students, many of whom affectionately called her “mom.” Her curiosity and determination led her to earn an Associate’s degree in criminal investigations in 2006. Above all, she was fiercely devoted to her family and would do anything for those she loved.

Jo is survived by her siblings Dorothy Blankenship (Hank), Susan, Maryann, and Paul. She was the loving mother of Jenna (Bryan), Monica (Steve), and Michael (Alfred), and the proud grandmother of Nicholas, Julian, Katrina, Jacob, and Ethan. She was preceded in death by her siblings Martha, Charles, David, and Phyllis, and now rests in peace reunited with her beloved parents and those siblings who went before her.

Her family will carry her in their hearts always, continuing to share stories of the strong, outspoken, and deeply loving woman she was.
