Josephine Kay Jenkot

November 18, 1962 March 10, 2026

Coldwater, MI

Josephine Kay “Josie” Jenkot, age 63, of the Bronson and Coldwater, Michigan area, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Coldwater Hospital in Coldwater, Michigan.

Born on November 18, 1962, in LaGrange, Indiana, to Henry W. and Grace V. (Draper) Jenkot, Josie was known for her radiant smile and contagious giggle that could brighten any room. She participated for most of her life in programs through Adapt, Inc. in Bronson and Coldwater, where she was lovingly supported by caregivers who cherished her.

Josie adored her four siblings. She affectionately called her sister Vicky “Giggy,” while her brothers George, Tony, and Hank were all simply “George” to her, since Tony’s and Hank’s names were harder for her to pronounce. Those playful moments filled the family with laughter and remain treasured memories. A true social butterfly, Josie loved getting dressed up to attend parties, go shopping, or simply spend time out with others. Though her abilities were limited, she embraced everything she could do with genuine joy and brought happiness to everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two nieces, Carrie Rowe and Jamie Jenkot. Josie is survived by her siblings, George (Angie) Jenkot of Howe, Indiana, Vicky (Jim Shrock) Rowe of Kendallville, Indiana, Hank (Jackie) Jenkot of Newburgh, Indiana, and Tony (Irene) Jenkot of Oscoda, Michigan, along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
