Josephine Grizzaffi ObituaryPublished by Legacy on Mar. 10, 2026.Josephine "Josie" Grizzaffi, age 88, of Millsboro, Delaware, formerly of Jefferson Valley, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Delaware.Born in Manhattan, New York on May 27, 1937, Josie was the beloved daughter of the late Salvatore Attardo and Nancy (Morabito) Attardo. A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Josie lived a life centered on family, friendship, and community. After raising her family, she worked as an overnight cashier for A&P Grocery Stores, where her personality and welcoming smile brightened the late-night hours for many customers.Josie will always be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love for the NY Yankees and the radiant smile that could light up any room. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially during lively, loud game nights filled with laughter, fierce competition, and treasured memories.Josie loved to bake, especially at Christmas time sharing Italian traditions with her family and friends. She also enjoyed making a pot of sauce on Sundays with braciole and meatballs.An avid bowler for more than 50 years, Josie's passion for the sport took her across the country as she proudly participated in countless state and national tournaments. The bowling lanes became a second home where she formed lasting friendships and shared many joyful moments.Josie was also a creative and talented craftswoman. She found great happiness in crocheting and creating beautiful needlepoint pieces that will continue to be cherished by those who received them. In her later years, she discovered the art of diamond painting, a hobby that brought her peace, creativity, and pride in the colorful works she created.A proud and active member of the AMVETS Post #2 Auxiliary, Josie strongly supported veterans and her community. She was also very involved with the Lakeside Community Homeowners Association and enjoyed volunteering as a card shuffler for many civic organization events, always happy to lend a helping hand and share a laugh.Josie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis Grizzaffi; her parents, Salvatore and Nancy Attardo; her step mother, Rosina Attardo; and her brother, Joseph Attardo.She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her devoted daughter, NancyMarie Abbruzzi and her husband, Steven, of Millsboro, Delaware; her sister, Margaret LoCicero of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her sister- in law, Bridget Attardo of Carmel, New York; her sister-in law, Lucy Casola of Queens, NY; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will remember her warmth, humor, and boundless love.Josie's life was one filled with kindness, laughter, creativity, feisty nature and dedication to those she loved. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her and were fortunate enough to share in her joyful spirit.A private celebration of Josie's life will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital and a veterans organization of your choice in honor of Josie's lifelong appreciation and support of those who served.Legacy.com reports daily on death announcements in local communities nationwide.
