Josephine "Jo" Doresk

Josephine "Jo" Marshall Doresk, age 96, of Flat Rock, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at American Home Place.

Born on September 4, 1929, in DeKalb County, Alabama, to Dennis Benjamin Marshall and Gladys Augustine Marona Marshall, Jo graduated from Fulton County High School in 1947. She built a successful career in the insurance industry, serving for many years as an office manager during an era when few women held such leadership positions. Later, she and her husband, John, established and operated Doresk Inc., their family home business, for three decades.

Known for her sharp wit, strong mind, and willingness to speak her opinion, Jo was a devoted wife to John and remained deeply committed to her church and the faith that guided her life.

She is survived by her son, Dan Doresk (Brenda); granddaughter, Serena Smith (Jeff); and great-grandchildren, Larissa Smith and Jeremy Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Doresk, and her sister, Kathleen Marshall Wilson.
