Joseph Vitelli

Joseph “Joe” Vitelli, age 70, of Erie, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh with his family by his side after a lengthy illness. Born on September 10, 1955, he was the son of the late Anthony and Gilda Arduini Vitelli.

Joe graduated from East High School and worked at Hammermill Paper for more than twenty years, where he was deeply involved in the Union. He later worked as a mechanic. A lifetime member of the Siebenbuerger Club, he also served as Vice President of the Teamsters Horseman Motorcycle Organization. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his Harley, building muscle cars, and cheering for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Kim Sheldon Vitelli; his son, Nathan Sheldon (Beth); his daughter, Nicole Stokes Johnson; three grandchildren, Gabby, Kenzie, and Brayson; his brother, Anthony Vitelli (MaryAnn); his sisters, Veronica Martin (Tom), Cindy Sekula (Tom), Lois Vitelli (Mark), and Rosemarie DiVecchio (Tom); his two cherished dogs, Karma and Diesel; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and friends.
