Joseph Turner, known affectionately as Joe, was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, in Cleveland, Tennessee, at the age of 84. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Joe’s life was marked by dedication and service. He attended McCallie School, continued his studies at Vanderbilt, and graduated from the University of Chattanooga. He built a varied and rewarding career in finance and entrepreneurship, working in banking, Coca-Cola, textiles, convenience stores, and gasoline distribution. His commitment to his country was evident in his service as a Marine Reservist, which reflected his deep sense of duty and honor.
He found great joy in the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting, and the stories of his fishing adventures will be told and enjoyed for years to come. A man of strong faith, Joe was an active and devoted member of Broad Street United Methodist Church in Cleveland, where he found spiritual guidance and community.
Family was at the center of Joe’s life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Fay; daughters Paige and Valerie; son-in-law Derek; treasured grandson Everett Ethridge; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Turner and Marcielle Almon Turner, and his brothers Milton and Sam. Joe’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
