Joseph Edward “Salty” Soliwoda, Jr., age 95, passed away on March 13, 2026, at Bickford of Rocky River, Ohio. Born on November 20, 1930, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late Joseph E. Soliwoda, Sr. and Gladys Benak-Soliwoda, he spent his working years as a skilled plasterer and cement mason in the construction trades.
A man of deep and quiet faith, Joseph believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and in the Blessed Trinity. He remained grateful throughout his life for the gift of good health and for the simple pleasures of being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Krum; his second wife, Emogene Marie Taylor-Soliwoda; his sons Kenneth, Bruce, and infant Michael Soliwoda; and his sister Barbara Wiegert.
Joseph is survived by his children Steve Soliwoda (Cindy), Joseph Soliwoda III (Ruth), and James Soliwoda (Chris), all of Erie; Sharon Gabutti (Brian) of Winter Park, Florida; Kathy Mineer of Ashland, Kentucky; and Terri Cantrell (Kevin) of Wickliffe, Ohio; his sister Delores Vicary of Corona, California; his brother Richard Soliwoda of Erie, Pennsylvania; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
