Joseph Pratt was born on December 12, 1925 in Cuthbert, GA to the late Ed Pratt and Dora Scott Marshall. He had the luxurious pleasure of being an only child. Joseph was educated in the Randolph County Schools and was no stranger to hard work. He worked the fields along with his father at an early age. After relocating to Albany, GA, he worked different odd jobs to include Sonny Campbell's Wrecker Service and Coats & Clark, where he retired.He was united in Holy Matrimony to Lonzie Bell Pratt, Mollie M. Daniels Pratt, and Bertha Gay Pratt. He was blessed with 8 children out of two of those unions.Joseph accepted Christ at an early age and joined Benevolence Baptist Church in Benevolence, GA. After relocating to Albany, he joined New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.W. White, where he served faithfully for over 20+ years as Chairman of the Deacon Board, President of the Usher Board, Church Treasurer, and Marshall for the Baptist Usher's Convention. At the age of 91, he became a member of the Beattie Road Church of Christ, where he served faithfully until his health began to decline.On March 3, 2026, at the tender age of 100, at Pruitt Nursing Home in Albany, GA, Joseph's book of life closed and the Heavenly Father called out to him "Sit Down Servant and Rest a Little While." He answered the call and stepped out of his mortal body into immortality. Job Well Done, Thy Good and Faithful Servant. Along with his parents and 3 wives, he was preceded in death by four grandchildren: Latresa Jones, Jermaine Pratt, Shandreika Watson, and Donyale Pratt Sr and his beloved dogs Gal and Missy.The legacy of Joseph Pratt, left to cherish his memories forever includes: five daughters: Josephine Hardy, Betty (Larry) Roberts of Jonesboro, GA, Doris Pratt, Norma "Nippy" Ford, and Shirley (James) Fredrick; three sons: Jonathan (Cecilia) Pratt, Willie Ned Pratt, and Julius (Rubye) Pratt; four sister-n-laws: Annie Reynolds of Cuthbert, GA, Minnie Mason of Acworth, GA, Jeannette Martin and Ida (Charlie) Lassiter of Albany, GA; four brother-n-laws: Roosevelt (Ollie) Daniels of Cuthbert, GA, Isaac (Sabrina) Daniels of Dawson, GA, Jack Holman of Hagerstown, MD, and John Daniels of Fayetteville, NC; a special friend, Yvonne Cowart; fifty- one grandchildren, forty-nine great grandchildren, fourteen great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; and last but not least, his four special great grands: Savious Pratt, Colin Pratt, De'Arielle Tolson, and Kalin Pratt.
