June 24, 1950— February 5, 2026
South Kingstown, RI
Joseph P. Salerno, 75, of South Kingstown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 5th. He was the beloved son of the late Nicola Salerno and Ursula (Zaninni) Salerno.
From his youth, Joe embraced life with adventure and joy, finding delight in skiing, scuba diving, spear fishing, and all the simple pleasures of New England. After graduating from high school, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island. He worked for several years at Electric Boat before joining Stop & Shop, where he retired after 17 years of dedicated service. Those who knew him will remember Joe as a beautiful soul defined by his sweet spirit, quiet generosity, and a heart that always chose to see the best in others. In recent years, he found contentment in modest daily routines—morning coffee with his closest friend, visiting local shops, and sharing meals with good people. His legacy of simplicity and goodness remains a quiet testament to a life lived with purpose.
He is survived by his brother, John P. Salerno and his wife Victoria; his sister, Karen Salerno Rivera and her husband Adalberto Rivera; his nephew, Nicholas Rivera; and his great-nephew and great-niece, Orion and Lyra, who brought him great joy.
