Lumberton, TX
Joseph Malcolm Dockens, 75, of Lumberton, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on July 9, 1950, in Houston, Texas, to Louise Elizabeth Dockens, he lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep devotion to family, and a lifelong spirit of adventure.
Joseph served his country as a United States Army veteran and later contributed to his community as a board member of the Jasper County Tax Office. He was married to the love of his life, Linda, for fifty-six years. A proud and hands-on father and grandfather, he personally raised his children and grandchildren, teaching them through example. Known to his family as the smartest man they knew, Joseph taught himself to become an accomplished architect and master homebuilder. After retiring from Exxon, he embraced lake life and spent many joyful years traveling the world with Linda and their family. He found great happiness in the outdoors, particularly fly fishing and snow skiing, and was always planning the next adventure.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Dockens of Lumberton; his children, Angela Cyr of Lumberton and Kyle Dockens of Kountze; grandchildren, Justin Cyr and his wife, Morgan, Jacob Bloodworth, Kaitlyn Bloodworth, and Bryson Dockens; and great-grandchildren, Ryan Cyr and Riley Cyr. Joseph was especially beloved by his nieces and nephews, Lori Courts and her husband, Josh, Richard Wilson, Kristen Grady, Josh Marceaux, and many great-nieces and nephews. He was also deeply admired by his in-laws, Denise Marceaux and her husband, Greg, and Carol Allen.
Joseph was preceded in death by his mother, his son Ryan Dockens, and his great-nephew Ricky Vasquez.
