Joseph Rickards ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Lind Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 16, 2026.Joseph John Rickards, Jr., 85, of Jamestown, died Sunday March 15, 2026, in his home.A native of Albany, NY, he was born August 3, 1940, a son of the late Joseph and Helen Schwalbe Rickards.Joe was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving from 1960-61.Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Dodson's Jewelers.He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and also attended First Lutheran Church. His other memberships include Mt. Moriah Lodge #145 and Kiwanis Club of Jamestown.Surviving is his wife Marie Ball Hill Rickards, whom he married May 17, 2025; stepchildren Kelly Hill of Jamestown and Daniel (Joan) Hill of Sebastian, FL; grandchildren Robert Henke of Jamestown, Derek (Lauren) Hill of Ocala, FL and Taylor (Thomas) D'Angelo of Virginia Beach, VA; great grandchildren Madelynn Thorn, Lila Williams, Titus and Cyrus Hill and Thomas and Anthony D'Angelo and his furry companion, his dog Jake.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Mary Ellen Rickards.The funeral will be held at 11 am Thursday in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service.Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or First Lutheran Church.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
