August 28, 1972— March 12, 2026
Lykens, PA
Joseph James Klinger, 53, of Lykens, passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2026. Born on August 28, 1972, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Wilford and Nancy Smith Klinger. Joe grew up in Berrysburg as the youngest of eight children and attended the UDA School District.
After working for Zemco Tool and Die, Joe spent the past 18 years as a dedicated employee of Merakey Human Services. He had a deep love for music and live shows, particularly enjoying Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, and Ozzy Osbourne. He shared a special admiration for David Allan Coe with his brother Dave and often recounted the story of meeting Rob Zombie in a hotel courtyard during a work trip to Ohio. Joe possessed a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious smile. He was passionate about cooking and grilling, and he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. A kind and patient man, he handled every situation with ease and was known for offering thoughtful advice to his work buddy, Dennis Klinger. Joe had a special affection for animals, especially raccoons, and he looked forward to being reunited with his faithful dogs who had passed before him. He is survived by his beloved cat, Malachi, and he will be greatly missed by his mother-in-law, Jane, whom he helped care for.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his aunt Peggy, uncle Clair, sisters Joy and Jean, brother Cliff, daughter Christianna, and cousin Steve.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Erica Laudenslager-Klinger; his daughters, Amanda and Adele; his son, Jeffrey; his sisters Mary and Joanne; his brothers Dave and Terry; his sister-in-law, Christine; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
