Joseph F. Sweeney

Joseph F. Sweeney, age 50, of Oxford, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at his home. Born on February 17, 1976 in Portage to Dennis and Theresa (Moore) Sweeney, Joe was a dedicated business owner who cherished his family above all.

He possessed a straightforward personality and a sharp mind that made him a natural teacher. Joe loved discussing politics and current events, and his ability to explain complex topics in an engaging way brought joy to those around him. His sense of humor and calm approach to life’s stresses helped lighten the mood for everyone he knew.

Joe found great pleasure in fishing, traveling, and spending time outdoors. He especially loved visiting Maui, Hawaii, and shared memorable adventures with his family in Indonesia and Egypt. A compassionate man, he devoted many years to foster care, opening his home to children in need and leaving a lasting, positive impact on their lives.

Joe is survived by his wife, Alyssa, with whom he shared 17 years of adventures; two children, Raiden and Arabella Sweeney; his father, Dennis Sweeney; sister, Deserae (Adam) Steva; three brothers, Dennis Sweeney, Michael Paskey and Scotty Kindred; sister-in-law, Rachel Paskey; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Kindred; two sons, Tyler and Gunner Sweeney; brother, Brandon Paskey; and his grandmother, Delores Sweeney.
