Joseph "Blackstone" Dilworth Jr.

Joseph “Blackstone” Dilworth Jr., 96, of Lagarto, Texas passed away on March 12, 2026, at his residence.

Blackstone was born on September 30, 1929, in Tilden, Texas to Joseph Blackstone “Black” Dilworth Sr. and Mary Elizabeth “Jean” (Shoemaker) Dilworth. He married Frances Katherine Dilworth on October 21, 1950, in Gonzales. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Beeville.

He is survived by a son, Joseph Blackstone “Scott” (Evan) Dilworth III of Tilden; a daughter, Diane (Tom) Gates of Corpus Christi, grandchildren, Kelly (Sheldon) Campbell of Toronto, Ontario, Joseph Blackstone “Cuatro” Dilworth IV of San Antonio, and Thomas Albert “Dos” (Samantha) Gates, Jr. of Corpus Christi; and great grandchildren, Emmett Joseph Campbell, Isla Margaret Gates and Louisa Frances Gates.

As per Blackstone’s wishes, funeral services will be private.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Blackstone “Cuatro” Dilworth IV, Thomas Albert “Dos” Gates Jr., Anthony Aguilar, Paul Dirks, Pat Murphy, David Ortiz, Oscar Rodriguez, and Horacio “Lacho” Saenz.
