Joseph D. Shipman, a deeply cherished husband, father, son, and friend, passed away on March 10, 2026, in his beloved hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. Born on March 24, 1978, Joseph brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. Raised in St. Louis, he built a life centered on love, community, and meaningful connections.
He graduated from Francis Howell North High School in 1996. Joseph worked for more than a decade at McDonald’s, where he advanced to manager and formed lifelong friendships. He later earned an Associate’s degree from Sanford Brown and began a fulfilling career as a Respiratory Therapist at Christian Northeast, followed by positions at Barnes St. Peters and Progress West. Respected by colleagues for his compassion and reliability, he took genuine satisfaction in helping patients breathe easier and often left small Jesus figurines in their rooms as quiet blessings.
Joseph was a devoted husband to Hali Shipman and a loving father to Blaize, JoJo, and Jett, who were the pride and joy of his life. Known for his gentleness, strength, and steadfast dependability, he was the person his family could always count on. He found deep enjoyment in hockey, baseball, boxing, boating, fishing, working out, hiking, and rollerblading, and he brought laughter and lightness to every gathering with his playful spirit. His faith was a guiding force; a dedicated member of The Crossing Church (Mid Rivers), he attended services faithfully even during illness. One of his proudest moments came last June when he and his son Blaize were baptized together.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife Hali Shipman; his children Blaize, JoJo, and Jett; his parents Linda and Gary Shipman; his aunt Robyn Rothschild; his parents-in-law Cynthia and Kevin Powers; his father-in-law Hadley Holt II; his brother-in-law Hadley Holt III; his nephew Hadley Holt IV; his niece Aurora Holt; his grandmother Marge Long; and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
