Lake Orion, MI
Joseph Cieslik, 40, of Lake Orion, Michigan, passed away on March 10, 2026. Born in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Joe was a man of remarkable presence and warmth. Standing 6'5" with a ready smile and gentle nature, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met through his kindness, loyalty, and quick wit.
He married his high school sweetheart, Alisha, and together they shared 23 years of love, partnership, and friendship, including 12 years of marriage. Their greatest joy was raising their two sons, Ben, 10, and William, 8, who were the center of Joe’s world. He is survived by his father, John Cieslik, his stepmother, Nancy Goodsmith Cieslik, and his sisters Sarah (Travis Dickinson), Julie (Nick Reynard), and Emily (Evan Yoder). He is also survived by his in-laws Dustin and Shannon Huhta, Amanda and Mitch McCollum, and Robby Fromm, as well as his nephew Ayden and niece Kenzie. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen Cieslik, and his brother-in-law Jason.
Joe built a successful career in the food service industry, beginning at Chartwells at Oakland University’s Vandenberg Hall, where he advanced from the dish room to lead manager, controller, and Director of Dining. He played a key role in opening and operating the university’s new Hillcrest dining hall. After 12 years with Chartwells, he managed his aunt and uncle’s restaurants at Brown Iron Brewhouse and most recently worked as a specialist with Taher, overseeing K–12 food service programs across multiple states. He earned a bachelor’s degree in operations management, reflecting his sharp analytical mind and strong work ethic.
A devoted Michigan State football and basketball fan, Joe also cheered passionately for the Detroit Lions and Pistons. He loved playing video games, especially Madden, Destiny, and Fable, as well as Magic: The Gathering and poker. An excellent cook and grill master, he found his greatest happiness in preparing meals for family and friends. He cherished quiet days at the family beach watching his boys play in the water. A Grand Master Mason and proud Catholic, Joe was known for his generosity, brilliant mind with numbers, and his endless loyalty to those he loved. Above all, he was a deeply devoted husband and father whose humor, strength, and love will remain with Alisha, Ben, and William always.
