Joseph Carey "JC" Burris

February 26, 1944 March 11, 2026

Rock Hill, SC

Joseph Carey “JC” Burris, a cherished husband, devoted family member, and steadfast friend, passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2026. Born on February 26, 1944, in Brunswick, Georgia, JC was the beloved son of TC Burris and Mae Iris Aldridge Burris. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, Charles Burris, Wendall Burris, and Kathy Faye.

After graduating high school, JC enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1962 to 1964. During his military years he earned an associate’s degree and later built a career as a skilled welder in industrial construction, working with Daniel’s Construction in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and at Duke Power. A man of deep faith, he was a longtime member of Antioch Methodist Church in Rock Hill. He was also actively involved in his local Masonic Lodge and Shriners International, where he formed lasting friendships and supported charitable causes.

JC found great joy in NASCAR racing, golf, and the companionship of his beloved dogs, Road Runner, Bandit, and especially Mattie. Above all, he treasured his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Josie Hudspeth Burris, and many nieces and nephews who will always remember their Uncle JC’s gentle spirit and infectious laughter.

His family will honor his memory through quiet gatherings and the continued support of friends. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, organizations dear to his heart.
