Joseph Burks

Joseph Burks, known affectionately as Joey, age 47, of Tuscumbia, Missouri, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born on September 12, 1978, in Jefferson City, Missouri, he was the son of Billy and Toni Burks and Victoria Korsmeyer-Wood.

Joey felt most at home under an open sky. Whether hunting in the quiet woods or fishing on the water, the outdoors was where his spirit truly came alive. He possessed a heart of gold and a natural gift for making people laugh, always ready with a joke or a smile that could brighten anyone’s day. He loved life in the simplest ways—sharing stories, enjoying nature, and bringing joy to those around him. His warmth, kindness, and easy laughter left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Tonja Burks; his children, Joseph Rodriquez, Anthony Lang, Zachary Burks, Wyatt Burks, and Hannah Zeigenbein; his parents, Billy and Toni Burks; his mother, Victoria Korsmeyer-Wood, and her significant other, David Hand; his sister, Alisha Burks, and her husband, Ryan Prock; his nephew, Tate Burks; and many other relatives and friends.
