April 19, 1957 March 12, 2026

Hendersonville, NC

Joseph Bailey Allen, known to all as Joe, passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on March 12, 2026, at the Four Seasons Hospice Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, North Carolina. Born on April 19, 1957, in Henderson County, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Joe attended Blue Ridge Community College and Western Carolina University. He began his career with Coca-Cola, later worked alongside his brother at Scottie's Jewelry and Fine Arts in Hendersonville, and eventually followed his passion as the owner and operator of Allen's Gems, Antiques and Collectibles in Salem, Virginia. A Certified Graduate Gemologist and licensed real estate broker, he earned deep respect in his community for his knowledge and integrity.

He loved country music and played guitar in a local band, bringing joy to those around him. Joe was also a talented painter and skilled handyman, and he found great pleasure in reading, especially the Bible and the novels of Stephen King. He cherished weekends spent with family, hiking, fishing, and picnicking at Sycamore Flats, and he was known for his mastery at the grill, always ready to prepare a meal for loved ones.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Landrum Leroy and Margaret Ethel Gibbs Allen, his brother Jimmy C. Allen, sister-in-law Melva Allen, and brother-in-law Allan Lynch. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rosalie "Rosie" Duckett Allen; his children, Christopher Joseph Allen, Joshua Wayne Allen and wife Angela, and Jessica Allen Lane and husband Lee; and his grandchildren, including Theodore James Lane. He also leaves behind his brothers, Kenneth Allen and wife Sharon, and Clifford Steven Allen and wife Diane; his sister, Patricia Dale Lynch; and many nieces and nephews.
