Joseph Andrew Harner

Joseph Andrew Harner, 80, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at his home on March 13, 2026. Born on November 28, 1945, in Wabash to Leo Louis and Mary Madeline (Jones) Harner, Joe was a 1963 graduate of Wabash High School and a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Diane Dunphy in Wabash on October 19, 1968.

Joe spent 27 years as store manager at Clark’s Finer Foods in Wabash and another 19 years with Lance’s Grocery in Gas City and Marion, retiring in 2009. A member of Grace Point Community Church in Peru and the Wabash American Legion Post 15, he found great joy in coaching baseball, playing golf, and most of all, supporting his children and grandchildren at their sporting events and activities.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Harner; son, Jay Harner, both of Wabash; and four grandchildren, Parker Harner of Wabash, Thaylor Harner of Kokomo, Indiana, Jared Harner of Wabash, and Hudson Thorne of Sweetser, Indiana. He is also survived by his sisters, Ann (Mike) Pretorius of Wabash and Cynthia (Loren) Graves of West Frankfort, Illinois, and sister-in-law Cheryl Harner of Wabash. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his son Scott Harner, and his brother Michael Stephen “Steve” Harner.
