Preserve forever →Joseph A. Flaherty
Passed March 15, 2026
Hampton, NH
Joseph Anthony Flaherty, age 86, of Hampton NH, formerly of Winchester, passed away on March 15, 2026. He was the beloved husband for almost 40 years of Margo E. (Fabritius) Flaherty.
Born raised and educated in Winchester, Joe was a graduate of Winchester High School with the class of 1958, where he was captain of the football team.
As a master electrician, Joe worked for Gillette for thirty years, where he met the love of his life, Margo. One of his greatest joys and sources of pride was working alongside her and eventually his son, Joseph, when he earned his electrical license.
Joe was a consummate athlete who especially enjoyed football and was passionate about the Boston sports teams. He enthusiastically participated in the company softball league against the other departments. Joe loved movies and music and shared his love for music with his family by bringing them to concerts, showing a new video he found online or loudly blasting his stereo with rock-and-roll music. It was his way of sharing more than just the music but of expressing his passion and love which will live on in his family’s hearts forever whenever they hear his favorite songs.
In addition to his devoted wife, Margo, Joe is lovingly survived by his daughter, Tracy Flaherty of Peabody and a daughter-in-law Karen Flaherty of Reading. His son, Joseph A. Flaherty, Jr., predeceased him. He was the cherished grandfather of Kaleigh Flaherty and Joseph Anthony Flaherty III, and the dear brother of Sheila Markiewicz and her late husband John, Robert Flaherty and his wife Patricia and Maureen Spezzaferro and her husband Robert. Joe is further survived by his stepsons Armando, Xavier and Eduardo Miguens and their families, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Thursday, March 19, from 11-12:30 PM followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home @ 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
