Jose S. Griego

Jose S. Griego, age 72, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away on March 10, 2026. He was born on March 8, 1954, in Tecolote, New Mexico, to Pablo and Barbarita Griego.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Petra Griego, Erlinda Martinez, Simon Griego, Jose Francisco Griego, Ramon Griego, and Esquiel Griego. He is survived by his longtime companion, Erlinda Lujan, with whom he shared a home; his special niece, Frances Martinez and her husband Manuel Pacheco of Tecolote; his brothers, Ignacio Griego of Rocky Ford, Colorado, and Jacobo Griego of Las Vegas, New Mexico; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who held him dear.

Those who knew Jose will remember a man deeply rooted in family and the communities of Tecolote and Las Vegas. His quiet presence and steadfast care for those around him left a lasting impression on everyone whose lives he touched.
