Jose Plaza Ortiz

Jose Plaza Ortiz, 73, of Hartford, Connecticut, passed away on March 7, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Jose and Juanita (Ortiz) Plaza. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty (Rosa) Plaza.

Jose is survived by his twin sister Maria Lopez and his sisters Luz Plaza, Carmen Plaza, Sonia Plaza, Rosa Plaza, Jackie Reyes, and Evelyn Plaza, as well as his brothers Juan Plaza, Bautista Plaza, and Jose Plaza. He was predeceased by his sister Ramona Colon and his brother Frankie Plaza.

He will be remembered by his large and loving family as a man who cherished his siblings and the bonds formed through a lifetime spanning two beloved homelands.
