He spent his childhood on his family's ranch. At the age of 20, he immigrated to California, where he spent his early years working in Calistoga. He later lived in San Francisco, where he met the love of his life, Nora.Nora and Amelio were married in 1978. Shortly after their wedding, they moved from Brisbane to Santa Rosa, where they made their home and raised their two daughters, Myrna and Olivia. He was a devoted family man, grandfather to Isabella and Madison and Tio Amelio to many nieces and nephews.Amelio was extremely proud of the life he and Nora built together. Their home was the center of many family celebrations and holidays, always filled with loved ones, laughter, and warmth.He worked for Santa Rosa City Schools for 33 years. During that time, he became a familiar and respected figure on the campuses of Montgomery High School and Biella Elementary School, where he was known fondly as Mr. Rivas.He was a skilled builder. There was almost nothing he couldn't build or fix, whether inside or outside the home. He loved camping and spending time outdoors with his dogs, tending to his plants, and barbecuing with family and friends.Amelio was a true gentleman, known for his kindness, generosity, and loyalty. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
