José Cantú Sr.

José Cantú, Sr., age 77, of Vidalia, passed away on March 12, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family. A native of Harlingen, Texas, he spent most of his life in Vidalia, where he worked as an agricultural contractor for more than thirty years. José was a faithful member of Lyons Holiness Church and found quiet joy in fishing, gardening, and spending time with his two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-two years, Evangelina Cantú.

Mr. Cantú is survived by his children, Elvira Cantú, José Cantú and wife Betsy, Ramon Cantú, Daniel Cantú, Jesús Cantú and wife Jamie, Mike Cantú, and George Cantú; ten grandchildren; four brothers; two sisters; loving in-laws; and several nieces and nephews.
