Jonny Mack James, 56, of Estero, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on March 9, 2026, surrounded by his wife and family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 8, 1969, in Warren, Ohio, Jonny lived a life filled with kindness, joy, laughter, generosity, adventure, and deep love for his family and friends. He graduated from Champion High School in Champion, Ohio, where he excelled in football, and went on to attend Potomac State College and West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he met and fell in love with his lifelong partner, Sandra James.
Jonny and Sandra married in 1991 and built a beautiful life together while raising their two children. He enjoyed a successful career as a Telecommunications Network Technician and remained a dedicated, loyal employee of Lumen for nearly 30 years. His strong work ethic and commitment left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Jonny was an avid athlete who found great happiness in playing football with his friends, cycling, working out at the gym, fishing, and golf.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas James of Warren, Ohio; his mother, Sondra Pinney, and her spouse, John Pinney, of Estero, Florida; his brothers, Trent James of Seattle, Washington, and Thomas James of Warren, Ohio; and his niece, Averie James of Arlington, Texas.
Jonny is survived by his loving wife, Sandra James, who cared for him at home until his final breath; his children, Brandon James of Estero, Florida, and Paxton James and her fiancé, Kyle Miller, of Fort Myers, Florida; his siblings, Tammy Nicholas and her husband Craig of Howland, Ohio, Mark James and his wife Monica of Arlington, Texas, and Jesse James and his wife Debbie of Estero, Florida; his uncle Jerry and aunt Kistler of Howland, Ohio; and his cherished grandson, Camden James Miller of Fort Myers, Florida. At the family’s request, there will be no service at this time. Jonny will be honored with memorial celebrations of life in both Ohio and Texas at dates to be determined by the family.
