Jonathon New ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by New's Monticello Funeral Home on Mar. 17, 2026.Mr. Jonathon Charles New of Clinton County, Kentucky, formerly of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Medical Center in Albany, having attained the age of 47 years, 6 months, and 8 days. He was born on September 7, 1978, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, the son of John Richard New & Rosemary (Curtis) McKay. Jonathon was of the Christian faith and proudly served in the United States Military. He loved fishing and had a special fondness for animals of all kinds, particularly his snakes and other reptiles. An avid reader, he possessed a remarkable memory and could vividly recount the stories from the many books he read. Jonathon was also a wonderful storyteller and a great host, often opening his home to friends and preparing fancy meals for anyone who stopped by. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Johnie Green & Leta (Morrow) New, maternal grandparents, William "Bill" McKay & Joan Carolyn (Curtis) Reynolds, and aunt, Lisa McKay.He is survived by his father, Richard (& Darlene) New; siblings, Sarah (& Jeremy) Dennis, both of Monticello, Kentucky, Casey Bayne of Lexington, Kentucky, Lisa Darner of Erlanger, Kentucky, and Sunny Bayne of Lexington, Kentucky; nieces & nephews, Jacob Dennis, Sebastian hicks, Damen Hicks, Jaxen Dennis, Jazlynn Dennis, Ellie Darner, and Teddy Darner.The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 1:00 pm E.S.T. in the Memory Chapel of New's Monticello Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 21, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am E.S.T. until the funeral hour.
