Jonathan Janes

Jonathan Janes, age 54, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on March 9, 2026. He was born on March 9, 1972, in Oak Lawn, Illinois, to the late David Janes and Rosie Crawhorn Kennedy.

Jonathan was a devoted family man who found deep joy in spending time with his loved ones. His passion for fishing reflected his love for nature and the peaceful moments shared in quiet companionship. Whether on the water or gathered around a table with family and friends, his warm spirit and sense of humor brought light to every occasion.

He is survived by his sister, Denise Oprzedek (Bryan) of Chicago Ridge, Illinois, and his brothers Sammy Janes of Lexington, Kentucky, Carl Smith of Greensburg, Kentucky, and Walter Janes of Chicago, Illinois. Jonathan is also survived by his uncle, Charlie Crawhorn (Bernice) of Columbia, Kentucky, and aunts Lou Burton (Noel) of Campbellsville, Kentucky, and Carrie Rowe of Chicago, Illinois. He was a cherished uncle to several nieces and nephews and a beloved cousin to many.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Randy Janes and David Janes, who surely welcomed him with open arms. Their memories will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew them.
