Ooltewah, TN

Jonathan David Freese, known affectionately as Jon, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, in Ooltewah, Tennessee, at the age of 39. Born on December 9, 1986, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Jon pursued his education with remarkable dedication. He was accepted into the Boston Conservatory and later earned a master’s degree, becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Even after his own cancer diagnosis, he drew upon his experiences to connect deeply with patients facing the same journey.

Jon possessed a vibrant zest for life and an insatiable curiosity. A talented composer, he created many meaningful works, including a special orchestrated piece for his wife, Michelle, to accompany her as she walked down the aisle on their wedding day. He loved camping, often seeking out the coldest nights in the wilderness, and found great peace on his 10-acre property, where he spent quiet evenings by the bonfire or walking through nature. He was an avid photographer and videographer, carefully preserving memories of family trips and vacations that will be cherished for generations.

Above all, family was the heart of Jon’s world. He shared a profound and unbreakable bond with his daughter, Kate, who was the center of his universe. He delighted in reading her bedtime stories, sharing snuggles, and happily letting her dress him up and do his makeup. He never missed a daddy-daughter dance or date, often enjoying their favorite meal of sushi together. One of their most treasured memories was the Christmas Eve when he surprised her with a pink “she-shed” that he had lovingly built as a miniature cabin, complete with cedar walls, a rustic interior, and a hand-chopped Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

Jon was predeceased by his brother, Mark Freese, and his mother, Darlene Ann Roark Freese. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Michelle Clark Freese; his adored daughter, Kate Freese; his father, Victor Freese; his uncle, Shawn Roark; his aunt, Cindy Roark; and his cousin, Morgan Roark. His intelligence, thoughtfulness, and warm sense of humor touched everyone who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by the family he cherished.
