Johnny Wayne Stroud

February 21, 1966 March 16, 2026

Collinsville, OK

Johnny Wayne Stroud passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, in Collinsville, Oklahoma. Born on February 21, 1966, in Wichita, Kansas, Johnny lived a life defined by service, kindness, and unwavering dedication to the well being of others.

Johnny graduated from Wichita South High School in 1984 and continued his education at Haskell, Wichita State University, and Northeastern State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. His commitment to learning reflected his lifelong desire to make a meaningful difference.

That calling led Johnny to a career in Child Welfare for the Cherokee Nation, where he worked tirelessly to support and protect children within the tribe. He took profound pride in his Cherokee heritage—an essential part of who he was and the legacy he carried with honor throughout his life.

Outside of his professional life, Johnny was a man of many passions. He loved spending time outdoors, especially when it meant working on his tan. Whether he was fishing, gardening, or hunting, he found peace in the natural world. A devoted fan of KU sports and the Kansas City Chiefs, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his teams. He had a special love for 1980s music, as well as a sweet tooth he never outgrew—particularly for gumballs, candy corn, and Red Hots. Johnny also enjoyed cooking for family and friends, and he was a supportive presence in the lives of his grandchildren, always eager to coach, encourage, and cheer them on.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife, Denise Stroud; his children, Tyler Stroud and wife Lacy, Tanner Stroud and partner Hailey Melton, and daughter Taesi Stroud; and his stepson, Eric White and wife Cheyenne. He leaves behind four cherished grandchildren—Parker and Tucker Stroud, and Kannon and Karter White—who will carry his spirit forward. He is also survived by his mother, Donna (Bushyhead) Stroud; his brothers, Lonnie Stroud and Darrin James “DJ” Stroud; his special cousin, Greg Connor; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Joe Stroud, and his brother, Monty Stroud, whose memories he held close to his heart.

A funeral service to honor Johnny’s life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, 711 S. Main St., Grove, Oklahoma. Visitation will take place at the same location on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Johnny Wayne Stroud will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, served faithfully, and embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm. His pride in his heritage, devotion to family, and commitment to helping others will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
