Johnny Murl Clark Sr.

1947 — 2026

Ringgold, GA

Johnny Murl Clark, Sr., 78, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on March 15, 2026. Born on April 17, 1947, in Marietta, Georgia, to the late John Buford and Gladys Mae Clark, Johnny moved to the Northwest Georgia area in 1975, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He worked as a mechanic at Covenant Transport until his retirement and was of the Baptist faith.

Johnny was known for his stubborn streak and his deep love for his family. He cherished time spent fishing with his grandchildren, often saying that life did not get any better than those quiet days on the water with his “grandbabies.” A devoted family man, he made the most of every opportunity to be with his loved ones, whether it was breakfast dates, stopping by their workplaces, sharing lunch breaks, or simply visiting whenever he could.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Clark, and his parents. Johnny is survived by his children, Vanessa Nelson, Johnny Clark, Jr., and Joseph Hunter Clark, all of Ringgold, Georgia; his brothers, Kenneth Clark of Ellijay, Georgia, and Darell and Daniel Clark, both of Cohutta, Georgia; his sister, Barbara Jean Dobbins of Chatsworth; his grandchildren, Brianna, Britney, Gavin, Sebastian, Tori, and J.J.; and several nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
