Johnny Earl Bennett
July 19, 1953— March 11, 2026
Selma, AL
Johnny Earl Bennett, 72, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at his granddaughter’s home, with his wife by his side.
Born on July 19, 1953, in Perry County, to William Glenwood and Emma Bell Bennett, Johnny lived a life defined by hard work and quiet dedication to his family. A skilled mechanic and truck driver, he took pride in his ability to fix or build nearly anything with his hands. Family and friends knew they could always count on him to solve a problem or repair what was broken.
In 1973, Johnny married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Bennett. Together they raised two daughters, Jenny (Ricky) Agee and Lisa (Glenn) Bennett. His family was the center of his world, and he took great joy in the generations that followed. He is survived by his wife, his daughters, his beloved grandchildren Jennifer (Brandon) Melton, Samantha Bennett, and John Matthew Bennett, and his five great-grandchildren, Skyler Melton, Rylan Melton, Adalyn Agee, Waylon Agee, and Kason Agee. One of sixteen brothers and sisters, Johnny grew up in a large, close-knit family that remained an important part of his life.
To those who loved him most, he was simply “Paw-Paw.” He cherished time with his family, looked forward to deer hunting each season, and found deep satisfaction in farming, proudly sharing his harvest with his children and grandchildren. In later years he discovered a love for baking, delighting in making birthday cakes for each of “his babies,” which he would proudly say he was going to “build” for their special day. The family wishes to thank Brenda Shelley and Renee Melton for the loving care they showed him.
Johnny will be remembered as a hardworking man, a gifted problem solver, a devoted hunter and farmer, and above all, a loving husband, father, Paw-Paw, and friend whose legacy lives on through the family he cherished.
