Johnnie Mitchell

Johnnie Mitchell, age 90, of Glenwood, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

He was born on November 2, 1935 in Lodi. He was the son of Jim Mitchell and Blanche Parker Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Elise Coffman Mitchell; his parents; his seven siblings, Harold Epperson, Kenneth Epperson, Ernest Epperson, Charlene Barnett, Bobby Haggard, Ray Mitchell and Faye Mitchell.

On June 29, 1957, Johnnie married the love of his life, Elise Mitchell. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Glenwood. He was known for his wonderful work ethic. He loved hunting and running his dogs. Most of all, Johnnie loved being "Papaw" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, dad, papaw, brother, uncle, and friend and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Robin Mitchell of Glenwood, Mickey and Jerrie Mitchell of Umpire and Justin and Sherrie Mitchell of Bauxite; his nine grandchildren, Jon, Jada, Hayes, Brooke, Chase, Caleigh, James, Morgan, and Lauren Grace; his nine great-grandchildren; and his many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.

Visitation will be held an hour prior from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.
