Johnnie Hicks

Johnnie Hicks, born November 4, 1945, in Floyd County, Kentucky, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 80 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family. A 1965 graduate of Maytown High School in Maytown, Kentucky, Johnnie was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He took great pride in his garden, growing and canning vegetables so his family could enjoy them for months. He cherished quiet moments on his back porch, observing the sights and sounds of nature and watching the birds.

Johnnie is survived by his loving wife, Cora “Frances” Hicks, whom he married on August 12, 1967; his son, Kevin Hicks of Greenwich; the great-grandson they raised as their own, Johnathon Barnett of Greenwich; his daughter-in-law, LaDonna (Oney) Hicks of Clyde; grandchildren Emily (Caleb) Logan of Clyde, Ian Hicks of Shelby, and Corie Hicks (Justin Barnett) of Willard; and many great-grandchildren, including Ayva, Quentyn, and Bailey Hicks of Clyde, Hunter Fortune and Treyvon Isaac of Norwalk, Cameron and Colton Logan of Clyde, Eleanor Barnett of Willard, and another great-grandson expected in July. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanette (Robert) Hamilton of Greenwich, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Madison and Eva Hicks; his daughter, Sara Hicks; his son, Steven Hicks; his sisters, Wanda and Lois Hicks; and his grandson, Jordan Hicks.

Johnnie was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family.
