Johnnie Bowers

Johnnie Bowers, a 94-year-old resident of Lenapah, Oklahoma, passed away at home on Thursday, March 12, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on February 15, 1932, in Foraker, Oklahoma, to Virgil and Martha (Workmon) Bowers, he married Ann Young on November 15, 1952, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Together they owned and operated Bowers Oil Company from 1979 until 2019. Johnnie was known as a dedicated and hardworking man who placed great importance on family.

In his free time, he raised cattle and spent many hours at the local sale barn in South Coffeyville. He also enjoyed visiting the Lenapah Senior Citizen’s Center and working on various outdoor projects. His love for the land and hands-on pursuits defined much of his life beyond his business.

He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Bowers of Tulsa and Lisa Cook (Doug) of Lenapah; his grandson, J.D. Cook (Ciara) of Lenapah; and his great-granddaughter, Lacy Ann Cook, who is on the way.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Young) Bowers; his parents; and his siblings, Lois Virginia Bowers, Elizabeth Noble, and Bill Bowers.
