Passed March 12, 2026
Rochester, NY
John William Gulisano, affectionately known as “Pops,” passed away at the age of 69 after years of health complications. A devoted father, partner, friend, and Papa, he was a strong, resilient, and spiritual man who faced life’s many hardships with determination and rose to every challenge.
He is survived by his children, Lisa (Rob), Lori (Mark), Nick, Andrea (Sam), and Carla (Jesse); his grandchildren, Jj, Ella, Ava, and Antonio; his great-grandson, Kasai; Luis, who was like a second son to him; and many friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Sam Gulisano and Ruth Milbourne; his great-aunt, Frances Gulisano; his first wife, Joanne; his second wife, Sharon; and many lifelong friends and family.
John was a loving father with a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any day. He cherished being around people, and it was rare to go anywhere with him without someone stopping to greet him. Kind, empathetic, and a natural problem solver, he was the person others turned to in times of need. A true family man at heart, he especially adored his grandchildren. He looked forward each year to planting his garden, loved to cook, and took great joy in hosting gatherings at his home. To family and friends he was a “world-class chef,” and he delighted in lively political debates, offering generosity, support, and nonjudgmental warmth to everyone he met. His stories and humor could make people laugh until they cried. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
