John William Allen05/24/1943 - 03/01/2026John William Allen, 82, passed away on March 1, 2026 and was born May 24, 1943, in San Angelo to Charles and Mildred West Allen, John grew up in Houston and graduated from Jesse Jones High School before beginning a lifetime of dedication to his country, his community, and the people he loved.John proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, carrying the discipline and integrity of the Corps into his 34-year career with the Houston Police Department.John also gave deeply to his community. He served as alderman and mayor pro term of Bayou Vista, volunteered with the Manvel Emergency Operations Center, and was a proud 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge. His passion for communication and connection led him to ham radio, where he was known across the airwaves by his call sign W5AKE and served as past president of the Pearland Amateur Radio Club.He had a special gift for mentoring young people. John spent years coaching football for the South Houston Mustangs and later for the Texas City Rebels. His players remembered him not just for the plays he taught, but for the confidence and joy he instilled in them.A man of many talents, John loved dancing, fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, farming, and cooking-especially BBQ with the "Manvel Mob." He lived boldly, laughed loudly, and never missed a chance to bring people together.John is survived by his wife Patty Allen of 42 years and his children Todd Allen, Jana Allen Reed, and Walter Allen; step-son Victor Boudreaux Jr.; grandchildren Shandi Allen Tucker, Joe Boudreaux, Victoria Reed, Ali Boudreaux Ramirez, Elana Boudreaux, and Weston and Warner Allen; and great-grandchildren Christian Ramirez, Mateo Ramirez, Emilio Martinez and Hudson Tucker and Colter Tucker. He also leaves behind his beloved fur babies Max, Rocky, and Heidi, and is reunited with his dog Taco.He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Susan Allen Pierce and step son Franky Boudreaux.Special Thanks to Magnolia Hospice Care and Annette Boudreaux for their compassionate care.Funeral visitation will be at South Park Funeral Home in Pearland, Texas on March 13, 2026 from 5pm-8pm and the funeral service is March 14, 2026 at South Park Funeral Home at 2pm followed by the burial at South Park Cemetery.
