John Wayne Watson, known affectionately as JW, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Batesville, Arkansas, at the age of 62. Born on April 13, 1963, in Houston, Texas, to Marshall P. Watson and Herman Mae Watson, he lived a life deeply connected to the outdoors and the people around him.
A true free spirit, JW found joy in traveling, exploring, fishing, and working in the timber industry, where he provided tree services to many over the years. He had a remarkable talent for fixing anything with a motor and took great pleasure in tinkering with projects. Known for never meeting a stranger, he cherished his Sunday mornings at church and peaceful afternoons fishing at the lake. Along his many adventures, he was always discovering special treasures that he proudly shared with or gave to family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Jonathan Wayne Watson; his sister, Vonda Browning; his brothers, Elwin Browning, Kelly Browning, Benny Joe Watson, Robert Lee Watson, and Tom Watson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and his dear friends Randy Todd, Sam Ellis, and Roger Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Stanton and Loyde Browning, Ray and James Watson.
