April 23, 1953— March 9, 2026
Fairfax, VA
John V. DeSimone, M.D., a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, in Fairfax, Virginia, at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with a Parkinson’s-related illness.
Born in New York City in 1953 to John F. and Marie DeSimone, John was raised in the Bronx, where his parents instilled in him a strong work ethic and lasting character. While attending Cardinal Spellman High School, he met the love of his life, Linda. After graduating from Fordham University, the couple married in 1976 and moved to Northern Virginia so John could attend the Georgetown University School of Medicine.
John practiced emergency medicine in leadership roles across the Washington, D.C. area for more than 40 years. He ended his clinical career where it began, at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, and later served as Vice President of Medical Operations for MedStar Medical Group. Colleagues respected him for his medical expertise, integrity, steady judgment, and humble dedication to his patients and hospitals.
John and Linda made their home in Fairfax, Virginia, where they raised their three children, Jenny Bacon (Nate), Chris (Beth), and Laura Arndt (Steve). A devoted husband and father, John placed his family’s well-being above all else. He found joy in tending his garden, watching his beloved Yankees, and caring for his many dogs, especially his German Shepherds. In later years, he took great delight in his role as “Pops” to his seven grandchildren—John, Michael, Bobby, Callie, Noah, Adeline, and Emmy—cherishing every moment with them.
He is survived by his wife Linda, his sister Arlene Maloney (John), and his brothers-in-law Artie (Nancy) Liberatore and John (Sharon) Liberatore. His brother Frank predeceased him.
John was a steady, loyal, and dependable presence in the lives of his family and friends. His quiet strength, wisdom, and selflessness left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
