John Timothy Arthur

John Timothy Arthur, age 84, of Eldersburg, Maryland, passed away on March 14, 2026, at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia. Born on October 7, 1941, in Baltimore, he was the beloved son of the late John J. Arthur and Sophia Arthur (née Grzymala). Known affectionately as John, Tim, and JT, he lived a life marked by quiet strength, kindness, and devotion to family.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra D. Mills. John was a loving father to his son Richard Arthur and his wife Terry, and to his late son Tony Arthur. His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren Ryan Arthur and Chelsea Cortolillo, and Samantha Arthur and her husband Tyler Steinberg, and as great-grandfather to Bowen, Meadow, and Ever Arthur. He was also a cherished stepfather to Scott Mills and his wife Rebecca, and Tom Kelly and his wife Lauren, and step-grandfather to Gunnar Mills, Macie Kelly, and Asher Kelly. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Gloria Arthur, and his sister Eleanor Kennedy. He was predeceased by his first wife, Yvonne Patricia Arthur, who died in 2014.

Before retiring, John owned an industrial equipment and truck repair business, where his exceptional skills and strong work ethic earned him deep respect. A longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Eldersburg, he was a man of quiet faith. He served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. Those who knew him will remember his passion for keeping life simple, his talent for restoring old cars, and the joy he found working in his yard, around his home, and on his boat near the ocean he loved so much.

He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched with his steady presence and gentle spirit.
