John Thomas "Butch" Costlow

John Thomas Costlow, 69, of Duffield, Virginia, passed away at his home on March 10, 2026. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, he lived in Kingsport for thirteen years before making his home in Duffield for the past thirteen years. Known affectionately as Butch, he worked as a construction worker throughout his life. He held a deep love for flea markets, motorcycles, and Mopar vehicles, yet nothing compared to his profound connection with nature and wildlife. He was known to befriend wild creatures and cherished the outdoors with a passion that defined much of his spirit.

A devoted family man, Butch was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruby (Bailey) Costlow, Sr., and his brothers, James, Kevin, and David.

He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Dollie (Adams) Costlow; his children, Angela Tipton and her husband James of Duffield, Virginia, Dana Newsome of Jonesville, Virginia, and Sabrina Adkins and her husband Bo of Franklin, North Carolina; his sisters, Pamela, Bonnie, and Mary Ann; grandchildren Miranda, K.C., Vanesa, James Jr., Austin, Oliver, Justin, Jordan, and Mark; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
