November 14, 1951— March 7, 2026
Willowick, OH
John Robert Ross, age 74, of Willowick, passed away on March 7, 2026, with his faithful companion Patty by his side. Born on November 14, 1951, in Cleveland to the late Joseph and Pauline (nee Longano) Ross, John graduated from Mayfield High School in 1970 and later from Lake Erie College in Painesville. He served in the United States Navy, stationed in Edzell, Scotland, where he later founded the Edzell Navy Reunion Group. John worked for many years as a United States Postal Employee in the Cleveland area, serving as a Letter Carrier, Custodian, and Electrical Technician before retiring. He was also a freelance writer and an active member and Trustee at Calvary Assembly of God.
John was an avid baseball and softball fan who followed the Cleveland Indians from a young age and later supported the Lake County Captains. He enjoyed performing in at least five Fine Arts Association plays in the Euclid and Willoughby area and made an unsuccessful run for a Council position in Willowick after retirement. Known for his genuine fascination with everyone he met, he approached each new acquaintance with the curiosity of a writer gathering material for his next article. He had a deep love for animals, especially his dog Badger.
John was the beloved husband of Karen (nee Zaffuto) Ross for 37 years until her passing. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister Theresa and her husband Thomas Brhel, his brother-in-law Allen and LoriAnn Zaffuto, and his nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his lifelong dedication to service, and the quiet joy he found in connecting with others.
